IMPORTANT: Analysis results are intended as guidance for optimization opportunities. Always validate findings with your BIM management team before making changes to production families.
Overview

The Geometry Assessor is an analysis platform for evaluating Revit family geometry against Revit's core geometry processing design. It helps explain why some Revit models feel slow, unstable, or difficult to work with—even when there are few or no warnings.

Key capabilities include:

  • Analyzing geometry type distribution (solids vs. meshes)
  • Measuring edge segment complexity and face counts
  • Detecting imported geometry sources (SAT, mesh imports)
  • Identifying nested family structures
  • Grading families based on deviation from Revit's optimal geometry design
  • Providing actionable optimization recommendations
System Requirements
  • Valid Autodesk account with access to BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • Appropriate permissions on projects containing Revit files to analyze
  • ACC Docs provisioning for this application
  • Modern web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
Intellectual Property

This application was developed using a combination of pre-existing frameworks, design patterns, cloud services, and workflows contributed by multiple parties, including the author and developer platforms provided by Autodesk, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services.

These platforms make services available to developers for customization and extension using publicly documented internet protocols and data schemas (such as HTTP, JSON, and XML), which is the intended use of this application. The author implements these services as a certified Autodesk Developer and a certified Microsoft Azure Developer.

All parties retain ownership of their respective background intellectual property. By continuing, you acknowledge this arrangement and agree that use of this application does not grant rights to copy, extract, reverse-engineer, or reuse the underlying systems, patterns, or approaches outside the intended use of this application.
